WHO IS ALTIN TATLI?
Altın Tatlı (Golden Sweet) is an artist living and creating in Istanbul,Turkey. Altın’s multi-disciplinary practice explores the possibilities of an intergalactical and interdimensional language of art.
Altin received a double-major BFA in painting and animation from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston in 2014. As a maximalist artist, they use many forms of art to invite us into their universe. Starting their artistic journey as a painter, Altın’s practice has expanded to include animation, illustration, photography, film directing, and art direction to express their artistic vision.
Following their studies abroad, upon returning to Istanbul they encountered the discreet drag scene. Influenced by the underground culture, they create and perform invented personas, characterized through costumes, make-up, and attitude. Using their body as a canvas to perform a moving image in an arena outside of the studio, they exhibit their multi–dimensional characters in public, on social media, and in editorial fashion photography shoots.
Prompted by the belief that everything in our universe is connected, coupled with an endless quest to learn about and understand our human, biological and animal nature, Altın is currently studying entomology at the University of Alberta.
As a philanthropist and activist, Altın co-founded SARGI (band aid), a non-profit with the mission to aid the wounds of the world through art.
Altın describes themselves as "Androgénie" [term coined by Altın meaning androgynous, genie, and génie (genius and guardian spirit in French)], an anime superhero, a maximalistartist, and a post-monk psychic.
